One of the problems when you're starting out as an actor, director, designer or technician is that the kind of training/mentoring opportunities that might help you to get a foot on the theatre ladder are few and far between. Plus, those opportunities that do exist are often provided by the larger arts organisations, so don't necessarily equip trainees with the specific knowledge and skills they'll need if they're interested in working in touring theatre, an area where many up-and-coming theatre-makers take their first career steps.

We've therefore decided to pilot the idea of a Training Ensemble to offer a small group of talented, emerging, East Midlands-based theatre-makers a flexible part-time programme of:

Introduction to Touring
Networking & Peer Support
Masterclasses
Production Attachments
Touring Opportunities

and for this pilot year the programme will run from November 2011 to June 2012.

STEP UP Creatives is open to anyone aged 18 and over, and the deadline for applications is 31.10.11.
