In Development
New Perspectives has a long track record of producing new theatre writing, and having previously commissioned early works from writers such as Noel Greig, Bryony Lavery, Claire Luckham, Nick Stafford, Charles Way and Amanda Whittington, the company continues to champion the work of a wide range of established and emerging theatre writers.
We find the writers we work with in a number of ways: they may be based in the East Midlands and have come to know about us and our work by encountering the company on tour; they may have got in touch with us because they're interested in the regional/rural focus of our programme; or they may have taken part in one of the many new writing development initiatives we're involved in - for example Those Magnificent Men started life as an idea that writers Brian Mitchell & Joseph Nixon 'pitched' to us as part of the TWP Momentum Festival in 2008. From time to time we also approach writers direct where we feel that they may be particularly suited to a project we're already thinking about.
Generally we don't read unsolicited scripts, but do welcome approaches from East Midlands-based writers and/or where a script is particularly suited to the regional/rural focus of our touring programme.
We currently have a number of projects in development:
Barbecue 67 by Andy Barrett
The Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo adapted by Daniel Buckroyd
Entertaining Angels by Brendan Murray
Jack Stroke Nancy by Tim Elgood
The Opinion Makers by Brian Mitchell & Joseph Nixon
