We're delighted to announce that Derby LIVE are going to be teaming up with New Perspectives to premiere The Honey Man by Tyrone Huggins in Spring 2012 - opening at the Guildhall Theatre in Derby on Friday 16th March, with official Press Night on Tuesday 20th, and running there until Saturday 31st before heading off on a regional/rural tour until Saturday 26th May.
New Perspectives' commissioning of The Honey Man grew out of the BME Writers Lab that it co-produced in 2009 with Eastern Angles Theatre Company and Theatre Writing Partnership and which has already spawned one successful touring production in Palm Wine And Stout by Segun Lee French.
Tyrone will be working with New Perspectives' Artistic Director, Daniel Buckroyd, on the further development of his script ready for a rehearsed reading as part of the NEAT festival at Nottingham Playhouse on 10th June 2011, and hopefully the presentation of an extract as part of Decibel '11 in September if the project is selected for inclusion.
Then it'll be all systems go for our Derby opening in Spring 2012, and we expect to be in a position to announce creative team for this within a couple of months.
