Sarah Ratheram

Sarah trained at East-15 Acting School & New College, Oxford. Recent theatre work includes Ebeneza Scrooge in Librarian Theatre's A Christmas Carol, & Gertrude/Horatio/Ophelia in their reduced version of Hamlet, The Book's the Thing. Sarah was Lady Macbeth in RIFT's overnight, site-specific Macbeth, & Daniel in their immersive audio adventure Styx. She was Puck in The Little English Theatre's A Midsummer Night's Dream, a jazz-playing Starveling/Peaseblossom in Ruby in the Dust's New Orleans-set version; Clover & Squealer in Tour de Force's Animal Farm & has worked with Penny Dreadful Theatre, Forthright Theatre & CoLab Theatre. Sarah was a long-term member of Commedia company Ophaboom Theatre's ensemble, performing with them in 5 languages & touring from Kendal to Korea via the Venice Carnival. She also voices Sigrid Hakkinen, the Minister for Recovery, in the cult running app Zombies, Run!

Writer - Jack McNamara (adapted for stage from the classic children's picture book by John Vernon Lord and Janet Burroway. With music by James Atherton )

Jack has been Artistic Director of New Perspectives since September 2012. Productions for the company include The Boss of It All by Lars von Trier (Assembly Roxy, Edinburgh & Soho Theatre); The Lovesong of Alfred J Hitchcock by David Rudkin (Brits off Broadway, New York & UK tour); Him With His Foot In His Mouth by Saul Bellow and Watching the Living by Jane Upton adapted from two Daphne du Maurier short stories (both UK tours); HOOD (150th Anniversary Commission, Nottingham Theatre Royal) and Darkness Darkness (Nottingham Playhouse co-production). Plays for children and family audiences include The Tiger's Bones and Other Stories (UK tour) and most recently The Giant Jam Sandwich (UK tour & Edinburgh).

Previous productions as director include Exterminating Angel (Basement Brighton/ Pleasance Edinburgh/ UK tour); Texts for Nothing by Samuel Beckett (The Rest is Noise Festival, Southbank Centre); The Word for Snow by Don DeLillo (London Literature Festival, Southbank Centre); Malaise Trio (Camden People's Theatre); Instructions for John Howell by Julio Cortazar (Nursery Festival); Betrayal by Harold Pinter (Nuffield, Southampton); The Blind by Maurice Maeterlinck (Arcola Theatre); Lucid Dreams for Higher Living (Underbelly, Edinburgh); Valparaiso by Don DeLillo (Old Red Lion); A Cool Million by Nathanael West (Underbelly, Edinburgh); Little Malcolm and His Struggle Against the Eunuchs (Warwick Arts Centre).

Previously Jack was Assistant Director at the Royal Shakespeare Company and director on attachment at the Nuffield Theatre Southampton under the Regional Theatre Young Director Scheme. Independently Jack continues to make experimental theatre through his company Future Ruins.

Winner of Best Design at The Wales Theatre Awards 2017.

Lighting Designer - Mark Pritchard

Mark has lit more than 40 productions in the West End.Opera and ballet credits include:designs for Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet, The Stuttgart Ballet, Phoenix Opera, three seasons for Dublin Opera, Wexford Opera Festival, and the World Premiere of Peter Maxwell Davies Martyrdom of St. Magnus in Kirkwall. International credits include: productions at the National Theatres of France, Iceland and both the Abbey and Gate Theatre in Dublin, working extensively in Denmark and touring productions across Europe, to New York, the Sydney and Perth Festivals.

Mark has lit productions for companies at varying scales throughout the UK from RSC to Theatre San Frontiers; lighting eight seasons for the Pitlochry Festival Theatre.Regional producing theatres include: Theatre Royal Plymouth, the Traverse, Northern Stage, West Yorkshire Playhouse and Nottingham Playhouse where he also designed the external lighting scheme. Mark regularly lectures in Lighting Design, designs internal and exterior lighting schemes for theatre and heritage sites and is a long standing Board member of the Theatre Royal, Stratford East.

Composer - James Atherton

James studied classical piano with Colin Yeoman for 6 years and then completed a degree at the Central School of Speech and Drama.

James is currently writing the score to The Ramshackle House for Upswing Theatre Company.
James is also the artistic director of the renowned Oldham Theatre Workshop.

Movement Director - Tom Dale

Tom Dale graduated from Laban winning the centre’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Choreography, danced with leading choreographers and companies including Mathew Bourne’s Adventures in Motion Pictures before focusing on creating his own work and forming Tom Dale Company. It is here that Tom is able to pursue his artistic vision bringing together artists to collaborate on bold, exciting, innovative projects that interrogate art in motion and have a particular synergy with the digital arts and electronic music.

As well as creating all of the companies work to date, including critically acclaimed pieces Rise, I Infinite, Refugees of the Lost Heart and Digitopia, Tom has created A New Chimera for Fertile Ground, Dark Clouds are Smouldering into Red with Sinfonia Viva, Subterrania part of (In the Dust) for 2Faced Dance Company, Dance Please produced by TPO/Crying Out Loud/Theatre Is and I am a believer for Artist Reza Aramesh.

Tom also leads educational projects throughout the UK and internationally, worked with Sinfonia Viva, all of the UK’s major conservatoires for dance and for National Centres for Advanced Training.


New Perspectives is an East Midlands based national touring theatre company, with a specialty in creating dynamic performances for rural audiences. We make ambitious and original theatre, focusing on new writing, adaptations and revivals, which we present in community settings and venues nationally and internationally. We provide career defining training and mentoring opportunities for emerging regional talent and manage the rural touring scheme Northants Touring Arts .
