A CREATIVE RESPONSE - WORKSHOP PACKAGE
This two hour session, led by New Perspectives Participation Manager Jayne Williams, is a guided spoken word/freestyle writing workshop inspired by themes explored in debbie tucker green's trade, culminating in a performed response.
Participants will create a collaborative spoken word piece, based on the themes of the play, trade. Using writing techniques developed over 20 years, with strong influences from the celebrated late playwright Noel Greig, who believed everyone is a writer and however ordinary we may feel, we all have extraordinary stories to tell. We'll use innovative story shaping/sharing skills and engage our collective, creative brains to deliver beautiful spoken word that will be performed as a part of a post-performance discussion.
The blank page is a writer's worst enemy, together we'll use a range of techniques to enable us all to communicate our stories in interesting ways. Word splurges where participants are invited to vomit phrases onto a paper covered floor. Affective memory exercises where free writing can flow through the senses to enable narrative to be animated via the sounds and the smells and the flavours of diverse stories. Very free range and participant led with a strong framework for focus but which enables artistic expression.
We will encourage participants to share their response after the performance as part of a Q&A session with cast members.
