We have included some Frequently Asked Questions to support you when making your application. Whilst we try to cover as much as we can in our FAQ's, we understand that sometimes you might need to get in touch. Early to mid-career East Midlands based/connected theatre/ performance-makers. By that we mean any discipline. You can be a writer, director, producer, actor, performance artist, poet, clown, puppeteer, movement artist etc, we work with a diverse group of creatives; our New Associates have included all the above and more! Can I apply if I am not based in the East Midlands? Yes, you can still apply if you have a strong connection to the East Midlands, but have moved. However, please note that preference is given to applicants who are based in the East Midlands. Much of the support we offer is out of our HQ in Nottingham so you would need to consider travel and practicalities. Is there an interview as part of the selection process? No, there is no interview for the programme. Our selection is based on your application. How does the selection process work? Every application is read by three different members of the New Perspectives team (Artistic Director, Participation Director and Executive Director). We then go through a long listing process, followed by a shortlist based on the criteria below. Factors that inform our decision include: Building a cohort from a variety of disciplines that complement each other Identifying where we feel we can best meaningfully support and make a difference to an artist based on the expertise and resources within the New Perspectives team A geographical spread representational of the East Midlands A cohort that reflects the society we live in and that amplifies the voices of previously underrepresented voices in the industry I have additional support needs; will my requirements be met? We are committed to access and inclusion. As part of the application, we will ask about access requirements - please tell us about any support you may need. We work from the social model of disability and actively remove barriers, shaping the programme around each artist’s access needs Applications to the programme are made via an online form, and we also welcome video or audio applications. Can I speak to someone about the Programme ? Yes, we are hosting an online information session on 25 Feb 12pm-1pm, where you can hear from our Programme Director, Jayne Williams and our Artistic Director, Angharad Jones. You will have the opportunity to ask questions at this session; you can also submit questions beforehand via the event sign up form. What if I can’t make the online information session? No problem, an audio recording of the online session will be available following the event. You will be able to access this via the New Perspectives website. Can I speak to someone about my application? Yes, if you have any questions that can’t be answered via the FAQ’s please contact [email protected] Can I apply again if I have already applied and been unsuccessful? Yes, you can apply to the programme up to a total of three times. Will I receive Feedback on my application? Yes, we provide feedback to all applicants, if you are unsuccessful and would like feedback on your application, please contact us by emailing [email protected] When does the Programme start? The first session will take place at New Perspectives building in Nottingham on Monday 20 April 2026. We will confirm details along with a timetable with successful applicants nearer the time. If my application is successful, what will happen at the first session? You’ll be welcomed to New Perspectives HQ by our Participation Director and programme leader Jayne Williams. This will be an informal and relaxed session where you will get the chance to meet your peers on the programme over some refreshments.
